Dr. Walker is the only surgeon in the Pacific Northwest with the advanced academic accomplishment of completing a Fellowship in Refractive Surgery who is dedicated solely to LASIK surgery. This expertise is combined with over ten years of clinical directorship and the performance of more than 97,000 refractive surgery procedures.
Dr. Walker pursued his medical, ophthalmic, and specialized refractive surgery training when LASIK first revealed its fantastic promise. From that point on, this remarkable procedure has guided his professional career. In medical school at the University of Texas, he earned membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and achieved acceptance to ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, where he focused on cornea studies.
Upon completion of his residency training, Dr. Walker made his next distinguished achievement when he was accepted for fellowship training in refractive surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center. There, he practiced and studied exclusively in refractive surgery for one year. During this time, he was the lead investigator in several laser eye surgery studies, all dealing with prevention of complications and maximizing visual outcomes through refractive surgery. His work has been published in The Journal of Refractive Surgery and Cornea.
As a Fellow in Refractive Surgery with thousands of cases of experience, Dr. Walker is one of the very few specialists in the United States to have advanced expertise and training in laser eye surgery technique, and specialization in the physiology of the cornea, which is the part of the eye treated in a LASIK procedure. His expertise and confidence in LASIK are attested to by his having had the procedure himself, and having performed LASIK on his wife.
Dr. Walker has chosen the Pacific Northwest as his home so he can be close to his extended family, and share the many unique outdoor opportunities with his wife and daughters.

I've been wearing glasses since I was a teen and hated them just like most people. After an outing where I had a difficult time seeing thru optics without magnification I decided to schedule an appointment to see if I was a candidate. A week later I was in for LASIK, and twenty minutes later I was walking out the door to head home. Yes it's expensive, yes it can be a bit unnerving because it is your eyes after all. It's worth it though, no more headaches, no more glasses. Dr. Iwanyk, Dr. Lee and crew did a phenomenal job. If you're on the fence, take the leap.

I was always told my eyes weren't a candidate for Lasik, but my wife had hers done and was very happy with the results and suggested I have a consultation done. I was shocked to learn that my eyes were in fact a candidate so scheduled immediately and received the treatment 1 week later. So far so good! I'm almost 55 and for the first time in 10 years, I don't have to use glasses to see my phone or computer! One thing notable about Dr. Iwanyk was he was extremely comforting during the procedure. While it all lasts just moments, him talking through every second of the process was very helpful. I'm sure I'm not alone, but my eyes are extremely sensitive, so that play by play was very helpful! I only wish I knew about this sooner in my life!
