Dr. Joseph Lehman's Bio and Credentials
Dr. Lehman is a dedicated and accomplished optometrist passionate about advancing vision care. He earned both his Doctor of Optometry and Master’s Degree in Vision Science from The Ohio State College of Optometry in 2020. During his time in optometry school, Dr. Lehman conducted impactful clinical research on subjective refraction, culminating in his thesis, “Sphero-cylindrical Refraction with Spherical Lens.” His work earned him the prestigious Julius F. Neumueller Award in Optics, highlighting his commitment to clinical excellence.
Dr. Lehman also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The Ohio State University and has undergone extensive training, including a Disease Externship at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association. Dr. Lehman’s expertise is further recognized through awards such as the Dr. Lyle Aloysius John Gassmann Memorial Award for Leadership and the Ocular Instruments Award for Clinical Excellence.
In his free time, Dr. Lehman loves staying active, whether he’s playing guitar, hiking, or cheering on his favorite teams, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, St. Louis Cardinals, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He also enjoys cooking, basketball, and spending time outdoors with his dog, Carmen.

Waking up with 20/20 vision after a lifetime of contacts and glasses is life changing. The procedure is painless and it’s fast. For me it was a little unnerving but it’s eye surgery after all. The doctor and nurses were extremely efficient and great to work with. When I sat up I could read the clock across the room unaided immediately. Prior to the surgery that would have been a white circle with black smudges. Once the numbing drops wear off it’s a little painful but if you can get to sleep before that, recovery would be a breeze. It’s the day after for me currently and I have 0 pain.
