PRK - LasikPlus Treatment Options
Vision Correction Based On Your Needs.
PRK, or Photorefractive keratectomy, was one of the original "surface" laser applications with Excimer Lasers. What Happens During PRK?
During photorefractive keratectomy some of the surface cells of the cornea, called the corneal epithelium, are removed. This form of laser eye surgery with LasikPlus is a bladeless procedure, and like general Laser Vision Correction it can correct Nearsightedness, Farsightedness, and Astigmatism.
Would I Be a Good Candidate for PRK?
Some patients, due to individual variations in the eye's anatomy, may be better candidates for the PRK procedure. These patients typically have a longer recovery time and may need pain medication for a few days. Patient pain is typically associated with the many pain receptors or fibers located in the area affected by PRK.
Is PRK Better Than LASIK?
Ultimately, patients have the same success with Photorefractive Keratectomy, as they do with LASIK.
