Broad Beam Technology
What Is a Broad Beam Laser?
The term "broad beam laser" is typically associated with a laser like a VISX or NIDEK laser platform, due to their singular and smaller treatment zones.
How Does a Broad Beam Laser Work?
A broad beam laser will project a single beam into your treatment area, on your cornea, all at once. The singular, cool beam of UV light will evaporate corneal cells and reshape your cornea, as needed. Broad Beam lasers are considered a solid "base-standard" in laser vision correction.
Will I Need a Broad Beam Laser?
Broad Beam lasers are usually prescribed to our patients with lower degrees of Correction Needs. During your free, comprehensive eye exam, your LASIK doctor and medical team will be able to tell you more about your individual needs and recommend the most appropriate laser and treatment to correct your vision.
Because VisX Was One of the Early Laser Platforms, Does that Mean this Technology is Outdated?
By no means is VisX an antiquated laser platform or technology. VisX is consistently coming out with new technology and new and better lasers; VisX has been part of the LASIK industry for a long period of time, and offers the laser vision correction community a great deal of experience and high-quality technology.
